— Frank Fraser Darling, Ecologist

"Balance between all influencing factors is vital to ensure that students are getting everything they need from their education. With that in mind, there is one certainty, student must be fully active in defining guidelines for ways of being and for designing goals related to their learning. When students are supported (as: learner, collaborator, provider of information and experience, and classroom community member) they can meet those challenges and have a meaningful effect on the class/school ecosystem."
— Coreysha Stone, Reflective Action Research Project, 2018
Teaching
In seeing myself as a lifelong learner, my teaching approach is steeped in adaptability, student centered learning, and self reflection. The role of a teacher is that of facilitator and mentor, to promote and model engagement with materials, information, and processes.
Each student is an individual and deserves to be both appreciated and challenged. It is critical to know a student and to understand where they come from in order to truly inspire their participation. In building a supportive learning environment it is the responsibility of the teacher to set the tone and model positive communication that demonstrates genuine and respectful interactions with each student.
